UPND hasn’t appointed Sean Tembo as its Veep

United Party for National Development (UPND) has dispelled the information circulating on social media stating that the party has appointed PEP President Sean Tembo as Vice President replacing Dr Canicius Banda.

Speaking in statement made available to The Independent Observer today UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka said the information circulating on social media is false and malicious as the Vice President is Dr Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM, while the vacant position is that of Vice President for Administration.

Mr Katuka said that the UPND National Management Committee (NMC) had at no time sat to deliberate on such matters as the party has a system guided by the party constitution through the NMC which handles such matters.

‘’We  wish to dispel the information circulating on social media that we have appointed the PEP president as vice president replacing Dr Canicius Banda. The information on social is false and malicious as the position the position of the Vice President is held by Dr. Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba,’’ he stated.

Mr Katuka has since the UPND members to ignore the social media publication adding that the party remains open to engage various stakeholders on the many issues bordering on liberating the citizens from the Patriotic Front’s induced poverty.
