Marlon Kananda has been appointed as the first Sensational Zanaco FC General Manager on a long term deal.
The club’s Board Chairman Hastings Mtine has confirmed.
“I cannot tell you the longevity of the contract because those things are personal but it is long term,” Mr Mtine, who is also ZANACO Bank vice-chairman, has said.
“He is a new General Manager per say, because this position has just been created. As you might be aware there is a new board that shall be running the affairs of Zanaco as a football club.
“Marlon is our first General Manager of the club. And he shall put together the secretariat including the Finance Director and others. We want the club to be able to compete favorably in the region (and beyond),” he said.
And Kananda said he will hit the ground running to ensure that he delivers.
He has told The Independent Observer that his desire is to ensure Zanaco FC remains strong.
“We will live by Zanaco motto of being strong, big and reliable by bringing the right people at the team. Zanaco needs to compete favorably at national and intercontinental stage so that we win trophies.
“Zanaco is strong a brand and with right people and stakeholders we can achieve more. My desire will be to run the club as a business because Zanaco FC is a big team and when it achieves more even the sponsor Zanaco Bank will equally do well. This will be a great journey and I hope to add value to Zanaco FC,” he said.
Kananda was Multichoice Zambia Public Relations Manager before being elevated.
Before his Sunset Stadium appointment, Kananda was SuperSport Africa Operations Manager.
