Chililabombwe Mayor Christable Mulala has called for urgent need to reopen the Chisenda border post.
Ms Mulala said Chisenda border post in Chililabombwe can be used as an alternative to Kasumbalesa border post thereby decongesting the border.
The Mayor was speaking when she toured the Chisenda border post checking on the facility.
She said that there is need of some rehabilitation for the border to be in full working order.
“Our tour is in a bid to mitigate the truck congestion currently being experienced at the border town. This border post has been neglected for years and it is high time we make it operational.
“Once Chisenda is revitalized it will help cushion truck load that is being experienced at Kasumbalesa border,” she said.
Over 3, 000 destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC are marooned at Kasumbalesa border post awaiting clearance due restricted number of trucks to enter DRC which has trucks lined up as far as Chingola.
