Zambia’s Sixth President Edgar Lungu has congratulated Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni Speaking people as he celebrates 40 years on the throne.
The former President has wished the Mpezeni good health, success, happiness and long life.
The former Head of State wishes people going to and from N’cwala traveling mercies in view of the weather conditions as advised by experts.
Chief Mpezeni was installed as chief on 19th June,1982.
Nc’wala is an annual traditional ceremony where the Ngoni people of the Eastern Province of Zambia come together during the last weekend of February every year to pay homage to their chief and praise God for the gift of the first fruits and food.
This year’s Ncwala ceremony is special to the Ngoni as it is being celebrated after Nkhosi ya MaKhosi,Paramount Chief Mpezeni, David Njengembazo Jele, has ruled over his people for 40 years.
Mpezeni IV took over the throne on June 19, 1982 from his father Mpezeni III, Pontiano Jele, who ruled from 1941-1981.
