60 councils charged for disobeying ‘Keep Zambia Clean campaign’

By JOHN SAKALA
The Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has charged over 60 councils in the country for failure to obey lawful instructions on sustaining the keep Zambia Clean campaign.

Confirming the development, LGSC) Commissioner Amos Musonda said the commission had observed that a number of principal officers had not been submitting reports to the ministry of local government.

Mr Musonda said instructions are given to local authorities to implement the campaign as directed by President Edgar Lungu and submit reports to the ministry of local government.

He said the instructions clearly states that local authorities should be rendering reports on the campaign to avoid assumptions that the implementation of the campaign has not been undertaken.

The councils have been identified as Ndola, Mukushi, Sinda and Kasempa among others.
Zambia was last year raved by cholera and President launched the campaign so that Councils become agents to combat the pandemic.
