Five women who allegedly inserted an empty bottle of castle beer in another woman’s private parts have been discharged and rearrested.
When the matter came up for trial before Principal Resident Magistrate Obister Musukwa, the five were discharged following an application to have the matter withdrawn.
There was no objection on the application and Magistrate Musukwa discharged the matter accordingly.
But soon after the matter was discharged, police rearrested the five women.
Coppberlt Police Chief Charity Katanga says the five women were discharged because police wants to slap with them more punitive offence of abduction.
MS Katanga said assault isn’t a harsh offence no wonder the police had to withdraw the case to slap them with indecent assault whose jail term once convicted can be for period of about 15 years.
She said jail term too for abduction with a view to slavery is about 10 years once convicted.
