5 nabbed for illega land allocation in Chongwe

Five people have been picked by Police for allegedly allocating land belonging to Galuunia farms in Chongwe district illegally.

This is after Police received information from the Director of Galaunia Farms Limited that unknown persons trespassed upon Galaunia Farms by subdividing and selling land to unsuspecting members of the public.

The incident occurred between June 2022 and January 4, 2023 in Kampasa area of Chongwe District.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale said police were alerted on January 9, 2023 around 12:30 hours investigations were instituted which led to the arrest of the suspects on January 18, 2023 around 01:00 hours at Galaunia Farms.

Mr Mwale said the suspects have been identified as Jatel Zulu 55, Patrick Kapya age not known both of Meanwood Phase three, Steward Kapandula 35, of Catapuls, Tobias Mwemba 22, of Kampasa village and Prince Chanda 2, of Obama area.

He said Police also recovered a tent that was mounted at the site including surveying machines and land documents.

‘Investigations are ongoing as Police have engaged the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. The suspects are detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged,” he said.
