5 injured, Driver’s legs amputated in a road traffic accident

The Driver of a Zongtong bus has been left with amputated legs while five others have serious injuries in a road traffic accident along Serenje Boma.

The accident happened when the driver of the truck was overtaking on a curve as a result he collided with the bus.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said involved was Anold Mwila age unknown, who was driving a Zongtong bus AIB 4083, property of Likili motors and unknown driver who was driving a Howo truck registration IT9578 from east to west direction.

Ms Katongo said the incidents occurred on 27th June, 2021 at 10:00 at Chito area, 90 KM east of Serenje boma along the great north road.

She has identified the passengers who sustained injuries as follows Kelly Sikaonga 39 of  Chingola,  Violet Kayanda, 45 of Masaiti,  Joe Zulu, 23 of Ndola,  Fatima Ndalama, 19 of  Ndola and Aaron Silungwe 41 of Nakonde.

Ms Katongo said the injured are all admitted in Chitambo Mission Hospital and the  diver of the truck is on the run.
