5 die in Likili bus accident

Five people have died while 13 others sustained serious injuries when the Likili bus lost control.

The accident happened when the Likili Bus lost control and went off the road on the left side and flipped .

Forty two (42) others sustained minor injuries.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the accident happendd today December 26, 2020 at about 06: 30 hours along Great North road near Tony’s area in Kabwe of Central Province.

Ms Katongo said Andrew Mumba 37, of Chipulukusu Compound, Ndola lost control of Zhotong bus registration number BCA 77 , property of Likili bus services which was coming from Lusaka direction.

She identified those that lost lives as Celestinah Bwalya 74, of Nakonde, Veronica Chipepo 63, of Katete, and 3 other unidentified persons, a man and two women.

“Those injured are Petronella Shinyambo 34, of Nakonde, Bupe Mwila 37, of Chinsali, a Sikazwe 45, of Kabangwe Area, Lusaka, Precious Katontoka 33,
Mika Chunga 21, of Chinsali, Sydney Zulu 26, of Chinsali, Gondwin Mwanyangala 38, a Tanzanian national, Thelma Mwansa 22, of Chimanimani, Kabwe, a boy juvenile Promise Sakala 7, Henry Hamatumbila 27, of Chinsali, Emmanuel Bwalya 25, of Mandevu, Lusaka, Friday Kasonde 34, of Mandevu compound Lusaka, Agnes’s Nalomba 20.

“The 42 passengers who sustained minor injuries have been treated and discharged,” she said.
