Police have fatally shot four suspected armed criminals, including a former Police Reserve officer, Felix Mwanja, 44, of Makeni Villa. The suspects, in a mud-covered Toyota IST (AIC 3824), fired at police officers during an interception in Kanyama compound area around 01:00 hours.
Police responded with equal force, resulting in the suspects’ deaths at the University Teaching Hospital.
The suspects were linked to multiple robberies, including attacks on shop owners in Mungule and Garden compound areas, and the robbery of an Indian National in Makeni Villa, stealing K47,000.
Police recovered a shotgun, ammunition, and other offensive weapons, and impounded the motor vehicle.
The bodies are at the mortuary awaiting formal identification, postmortem, and burial. Investigations are ongoing.
