Police in Lusaka picked up arrested and charged four suspects for allegedly assaulting a 39-year old man at the Magistrate Court complex.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said it is alleged that Kafula Chileshe the victim was assaulted at the gate yesterday as he was going to attend a Court session where there was ruling in the petition of Lusaka Mayoral seat.
Ms Katongo said that whilst at the gate, a green mini bus stopped near him and the occupants descended on him and begun beating him.
She said Chileshe sustained a swollen face and general body pains.
Ms Katongo said Police who rushed to the scene apprehended 10 suspects out of which four where positively identified by the suspect during identification parade which was conducted today.
She has identified the suspects as Robby Chinyama, Lackson Tembo, Vincent Zulu and Chivuka Chinyama who have been charged with Assault Occassioning Actual Bodily Harm (OABH).
They are detained in police custody awaiting Court appearance.
