Coach Chris Kaunda has bemoaned Zanaco’s failure to collect maximum points against Green Eagles in last Saturday’s Super Division Week 18 encounter.
The bankers drew 1-all with Eagles at Sunset Stadium.
Kaunda said in the aftermath of the draw that he was disappointed to see his team drop two points in the title race.
“I can’t be happy with a draw, it’s a loss. Two points down is a loss. It was a very difficult game,” he said.
Kaunda said his charges missed a lot of chances which on any given day would have yielded three points.
“It was just difficult to play. All the players did what we wanted them to do, it wasn’t our day,” he said.
Midfielder Amity Shamenda put Eagles in front before top scorer Roger Kola equalised for the home side for the two teams to share spoils.
Failure to beat Eagles meant Zanaco surrender their leadership status to Zesco,who beat Forest Rangers 3-0 on Sunday.
Zesco have 34 points,one clear of Zanaco.
Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi said his team’s target still remains to finish in the top four despite dropping two points against Zanaco.
“Playing against Zanaco, you don’t expect an easy game.you just have to up your game, plan well and defend well. At least we got an early goal which gave us the power to fight and make sure they don’t score another goal,”he said.
Chiyangi said his team played well although they shared points with the bankers.
Eagles have in recent weeks struggled to win matches.
Prior to Saturday’s game, Eagles drew 2-all against Kabwe Warriors in Choma.
“The target is always to end on top four. We just have to push. These are the last games of the season so we have to make sure we play well,” he said.
