Government has announced that it will recruit 30, 000 teachers under the new budget.
Speaking during the budget presentation which is live now, Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said the recruitment of 30, 000 teachers is more than the figure hired in the past 10 years.
Dr Musokotwane said the teachers will be recruited and deployed equitably.
“We have realised that some Teachers never wanted to be deployed in rural area. We shall ensure we have teachers in rural areas.
“We will also build 120 secondary schools through a loan payable over 30 year period. And to promote more pupils in school will abolish the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Examination Fees and Tuition fees,” he said
He said Government will provide grants to schools to help them run.
Regarding boarding fees, the vulnerable children will be awarded grants by a special committee which involves the community.
