3 Sisters drown in Luampa river

Three Juvenile of the same family have drowned in Luampa river.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said that the three failed to swim afloat and died.

Mr Hamoonga said brief facts are that  Shambangu Nasilele 14 and Sibumpiwa Batista 9, when their knocked off from School at Kaumbu Primary, the duo proceeded to meet their elder sister Namasiku Batista 17, at her work place where she worked as a maid.

He said the trio headed home and on their way Shambangu and Sibupiwa Batista stopped over and decided to swim in the deep waters of Luampa River.

“As the said two failed to swim afloat, Namasiku Batista jumped into the deep waters and tried to help her two sisters but unfortunately she too drowned together with them and the three died” he said.

Mr Hamoonga said the incident occured on April 14 around 15:45 hours in Luampa River of Luampa District .

He said the three bodies have since been retrieved from the river and deposited in Luampa Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
