3 people drowned in Luapula river

Three members of one family have drowned while two others survived after a Canoe in which they were, capsized on Luapula River.

The victims were heading towards Congo DR territorial waters for some farming activities.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said a report was made to Milenge Police by Tonga Chisha 40, of Yatema area Chief Sokontwe in Milenge District.

Ms Katongo has identified the deceased persons as Chilufya 30, his two sons (the deceased’s sons) Chitenge Chilufya 9 and Ngoyi Chilufya 6.

She also identified the two survivals as Chalwe Bokwe 14 and Obvious Chisenga one year, all of Yatema village.

The three bodies of the deceased have been retrieved.
