3 new cases recorded

The country has recorded three new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cumulative number of cases to 48.

Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya says two cases involve two females aged 23 and 29, who are contacts to the latest Covid-19 patient from Makeni.

Dr Chilufya says the other involves a 26-year-old male, a son of a diplomat, who arrived in the country from Poland on April 12, aboard Ethiopian Airlines.

Speaking during the routine Covid-19 updates in Lusaka today, the Minister of Health said the country has 30 recoveries and 16 active cases of COVID-19, in admission.

Dr. Chilufya said all the 16 patients are stable including the 74-year-old man who is now off oxygen support.

He said 150 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, bringing the total cumulative number of tests conducted in the country to 1,846.

Dr. Chilufya said 2,336 citizens have successfully completed quarantine and that 637 alerts from the community have been cleared as non-cases.
