3 nabbed for theft of 947×50 KG bags of fertilizer

Three people including a Depot Warehouse Manager have been arrested in connection with the theft of Fertilizer at Sea Land Commodity Company Limited.

The suspects are alleged to have stolen 947 by 50 kilograms bags of Compound D Fertilizer valued at K1, 334,417.00.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale said the theft is suspected to have occurred at unknown time between March 9, 2023 and March 14, 2023 at Sea Land Commodity Company Limited warehouse located in Lusaka West.

Mr Mwale said the theft was discovered on March 14, 2023 around 08:00 hours by one of the company employees who immediately alerted the Police.

He said Police officers visited the scene and investigations were instituted which revealed that the fertilizer was secured in the company warehouse on March 9, 2023 and on March 14, 2023, it was discovered that 947 bags of fertilizer were missing from where it was secured inside the warehouse.

Three suspects were arrested and detained in custody.

And Police in Lusaka recovered a Toyota IST bearing registration number AHB 2643 which was stolen on March 14, 2023 in Kanyama compound.

The motor vehicle was stolen around 16:00 hours along Kalusha Bwalya road after the owner identified as Milambo Tryson aged 26 went into a shop leaving the keys in the ignition. The matter was reported to Police and investigations were instituted leading to the recovery of the vehicle on March 15, 2023 around 02:00 hours in Makeni area.

The motor vehicle was impounded and the driver identified as Amos Muyumba aged 23 of Bauleni compound was arrested and currently detained in custody.

Investigations are ongoing in both incidents.
