3 men arrested for criminal trespass at Mukamambo girls in the night

Police in Chongwe have charged and arrested three suspects for criminal trespassing at Mukamambo Girls Secondary School at night who pepper sprayed a teacher and security guard on duty.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said that the suspects entered the school premises with intent to cause a crime.

Ms Katongo said in resisting arrest by members of the public who responded to a distress call, one of the suspects sprayed some irritants (pepper spray) on one of the teachers and a security guard on duty who were trying to apprehend them and managed to escape.

She said the chemical later spread to the pupils of which seven of them got chocked and were rushed to the District Hospital for medical attention and were later discharged.

Ms Katongo said while the other two were apprehended and surrendered to police. However, police who rushed to the scene managed to apprehend the third suspect who had escaped.

Ms Katongo identified the suspects as Joseph Siyanzele 21, Fredrick Mwila 32 and Wisdom Manjata 22 on September 27, 2021 around 2200 hours. Identified as Joseph Siyanzele

“The suspects, all of Chongwe, have been charged and arrested for Criminal Trespass and are currently in police custody awaiting Court appearance. We wish to thank members of the public for the role they played in ensuring that the culprits are brought to book,” she said.
