3 file in for Bupalo by-election

Three Political parties have successfully filed in nominations for Bupalo ward upcoming By-election in Chingola.

By Press time the Patriotic Front (PF) Kunda Kapambwe, United Party for National Development (UPND) Mushimbwa Gardner and Socialist Party (SP) Clara Chisanga had filed in their nominations.

The Nominations for the Bupalo By-Election commenced with the Patriotic Front’s candidate Kunda Kapambwe filling first.

The Nomination center which is Kings Community School was declared open by the electoral office Mulako Sikakena at 09:00.

Speaking shortly after filling in, PF Candidate Kunda Kapambwe said that once elected as ward Councillor, he will ensure that at least everyone has access to safe clean drinking water.

He was accompanied by PF Provincial Chairman Nathan Chanda who was confident that PF has rebranded to a better party and they will comeback in 2026.

Mr Chanda said that the party will now go into campaign to explain to the people what will be done.

He said there’s need for the residents in Bupalo ward to have representative that will ensure that no demolitions will be done.

Mr Chanda said they will ensure that they conduct peaceful elections before and after the by election.

And UPND’s Mushimbwa Gardner filed in second, she also promised to ensure that residents have access to safe clean water and work on the roads.

Ms Gardener said she is confident of returning the seat.

And Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe who is part of the mobilisation team encouraged the residents of Bupalo to vote for the UPND candidate.

He said development to the ward is guaranteed once Ms Gardener is elected.

Ms Gardener was accompanied by Chingola Mayor Johnson, Provincial Vice Chairperson Richard Kalunga, District Chairperson Scrivener Bwalya and other party Officials.

And the socialist party’s candidate Clara Chisenga filed in last.

Speaking after the filing in, SP Copperbelt Youth Chairperson Martin Simwaba said the party is confident that their candidate will scoop the seat.

He encouraged the electorates in the ward to vote their candidate for things to change in Bupalo.

The By-election was necessitated by the death of Bupalo ward Councillor Sunday Sinyangwe.
