Twenty-four people have allegedly been poisoned in Lyamutinga area of Western Province after their consumed meat bought from a named member of the same area.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said 14 people were admitted to Muoyo Rural Health Center while 10 were admitted to Lewanika General Hospital for suspected poisoning.
Ms Katongo said the condition of the 10 admitted to Lewanika General Hospital is yet to be established.
She said police followed up the matter and found that only four victims were still admitted to Muoyo Rural Health Center still receiving treatment while ten had been discharged.
Ms Katongo said out of the 24 victims, 12 are juveniles and 12 are adults.
She said investigations have been instituted in the matter and the carcass will be subjected to laboratory examination.
