2 behind hacking in Chingola appear in court

Two people suspected to be behind the hacking of some residents in Chingola’s Chikola Township have appeared for mention at the Chingola Magistrate court.

The duo also appeared before another court facing four counts of gassing homes with chemicals.

Appearing before Resident Magistrate Stephen Mabona were Lazalous Mwape 22, and Brain Maipambe 19, both of Efimiyambolo Farms of Chingola’s Mutenda area along Solwezi road.

Particulars before court are that on December 30, 2019 the duo whilst acting together murdered Ruth Chongwe 22, of Plot No.6010 Chikola Loop area.

Mwale and Maipambe are also facing five counts of attempted murder on the family of Ms Chongwe they left for dead.

The particulars are that on December 30, 2019 the duo did hack Levision Chongwe 32 the husband to Ms Chongwe, his children Natasha Chongwe 12, Moise Chongwe 5, Bongani Chongwe 5 and Manasseh Chongwe 4.

And before another court the duo is charged with four counts of malicious administering of poison with intent to harm.

Particulars before Chingola Resident Magistrate Peggy Banda were that the duo on December 27 and 29, 2019 willfully and jointly whilst acting together with intent to injure, poison or noxious to administer poison to three different houses.

The duo was notified that the charges they are facing are tried by the High Court and were just appearing for mention until they receive further instruction from the Director of Public Prosecution.

The two courts sitting separately have both adjourned the matter to February 21, 2020 for another mention.

They are remanded in police custody.
