A 19-year-old woman of Kabanda compound in Mwinilunga District of North-Western Province is facing a murder charges after a man she allegedly hit with a pounding stick died two days after the incident.
Facts before the Police are that Florence Kasempa is alleged to have hit her former boyfriend identified as Justin Lukama, 22, also of Kabanda compound with a pounding stick when the deceased visited her home on May 28, 2023 after a drinking spree.
North-Western Province Police Commanding Officer Dennis Moola said that the incident occurred when the victim Justin Lukama visited Florence Kasempa’s house after a drinking spree.
Mr Moola said that something angered her and then decided to chase the victim who was resisting.
“The now victim Justine Lukama was in a relationship with the suspect Florence Kasempa but their relationship ended,” he said.
He also said that the accused allegedly got a pounding stick and then hit the victim on the back of his head which caused him to sustain a swollen face and general body pains.
Police have since arrested the accused and charged her with murder following the death of the victim who had earlier on been admitted in hospital for two days and later died in the early hours of Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
Mr Moola disclosed that the body of the victim has since been deposited in Mwinilunga District Hospital mortuary awaiting Post mortem while the suspect remains in custody.
