Nineteen (19) members of the Kitwe notorious gang known as the Tokota boys of Kitwe have appeared before the Kitwe Magistrate for mention.
The 19 appeared before Magistrate Yvone Nalomba facing three criminal charges amid tight security.
In count one was Libikani Phiri 18, Davide Katebe 20, Lacky Mwaba 20, Wisdom Chibwe 20, Bill Mulenga 20, Moses Chilambu 21, Boniface Lubansa 21, Prince Chikumbi 20, Richard Siame 20 and Lazarus 21.
Others were Kingsley N’gona 24, Abraham Sikazwe 22, Teddy Chilufya 20, Bernard Chirwa 25, Sydney Kasasa 20, Doctor Simwimba 34, Mills Mwaba 28 and Trust Sinkala 19, all of Kitwe.
They are all charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that on April 30, 2018 in Kitwe the accused persons, jointly and whilst acting together with intent to maim, injure or disfigure did cause grievous harm to Cathebeck Nkonde a resident of Kitwe.
And in Count Two, the 19 accused persons are charged with unlawful wounding and poisoning contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that on April 30, 2018 in Kitwe, jointly and whilst acting together with intent to injure or annoy, all 19 accused persons caused Cathebeck to eat faecal matter.
In count three, the accused persons are charged with Kidnapping or abducting in order to subject a person to grievous harm contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that on April 30, 2018 in Kitwe, jointly and whilst acting together all 19 kidnapped Cathebeck Nkonde in order to put him in danger and to subject him to grievous harm.
Magistrate Nalomba has since adjourned the matter to May 28, 2018 for plea. All accused person are remanded in Kamfinsa Maximum prison.
Two of the 19 are juvenile offenders.
Meanwhile, there was cheer and ululation as all the 19 boys passed the street in a police van heading back to Kamfinsa.
