Police in Lusaka have arrested and detained 15 Juvenile in connection with the murder of Kings Sikonde, aged 17, a resident of Chikolokoso.
The primary suspect in this heinous crime is a juvenile, aged 15, from Kabangwe.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the suspects, identified as members of a group self-identifying as the “Bloodies,” were apprehended as a result of a coordinated police operation that was carried during the early hours of yesterday, concluding at 06:30 hours.
Mr Hamoonga said the arrested individuals include 14 other juveniles, aged between 14 and 18, and two adults, Febiano Lungu 19, and Frederick Lukumo 20.
“The investigation leading to these arrests unfolded swiftly after the incident on January 18, 2024. The police received information that the 15-year-old juvenile, believed to be the main perpetrator, had sought refuge in Chibombo. An extensive search and apprehension operation were carried out, leading to the successful arrest of the juvenile yesterday in Chibombo.
“All the arrested individuals are currently in police custody. The charges against some of the arrested individuals include murder, and further investigations are underway to ascertain any additional criminal activities or connections to their self-proclaimed group, the “Bloodies.” He said.
He said the police are committed to ensuring that justice is served for the victim, Kings Sikonde, and that the arrested individuals face the full consequences of their actions.
