An-11- year-old- boy of Luanshya’s Roan Townships has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the toilet of his house.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said Abeuty Kanungwe the father to the juvenile reported the incident to the police.
Mr Mweemba said that on December 27, 2022 at 07:00 Mr Kanungwe the victim’s father went for work at the mine and left his wife and children at home in good health including the victim.
He said when the father came back home at around 19:40 hours he found people gathered at his house mourning before asking what was happening since he was pressed, he went to the toilet/bath room and found that his son was hanging dead with an electric cable around his neck to the roof.
“When he inquired as to what happened, he was told that the body was first discovered by the small child in the same bathroom who alerted the mother just few minutes before the father arrived from work. The matter was reported to the police who visited the scene,” he said.
Mr Mweemba said that the body was found hanging with an electric cable tied around the Juvenile’s neck.
He said the body was inspected and no visible injuries were noticed apart from the urine which he had urinated on himself.
Mr Mweemba said the body has since been deposited to Roan General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem, as investigations have been instituted.
