The Kitwe Magistrate Court has sentenced two members of the 100s gang in Kitwe to four years imprisonment with hard labour for assault.
Chibolya Junipa Gondwe and Makelo Wezi were charged with assault contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence were that on May 12, 2018 in Kitwe jointly and whilst acting together assaulted Richard Chikembo thereby occasioning him bodily harm.
Appearing before Principal Resident Magistrate Chongo Musonda for plea, the duo pleaded guilty to having committed the offence.
Facts before the court are that the duo on May 12, this year whist acting together did assault Mr Chilembo using fists and sticks making him unconscious and the accused later fled the scene.
In mitigation the duo asked the court to be forgiven because they regretted their actions and have learnt a lesson while remanded in custody.
In passing judgement, Magistrate Ms Musonda said she had heard their mitigation but taking the law into their hands is not a solution especially in a nation which has competent law enforcing agencies that can handle such cases.
She said the behavior exhibited by the two accused was a recipe for anarchy in the country.
Meanwhile Magistrate Musonda has adjourned a case in which three other members of the 100s gang pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault and unlawful wounding to June 1, 2018 for commencement of trial.
Another gang of Tokota Boys is custody at Kamfinsa Correction facility.
