Ten-dangerous criminals suspected to have been behind the spate of crimes in Kabwe have been arrested for various offences including murder and aggravated robbery.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the 10 are formally Charged for two counts of Murder, Five Counts of Burglary and theft, Six counts of Aggravated Robbery and Twenty two counts of Breaking into a Building and committing a felony there in.
Mr Hamoonga said this was after police on May 13, 2022 at Bwacha Police received a report of Murder and Aggravated Robbery in which James Kamukwamba, 72, a Security Guard of Nakoli Township was murdered at Tedcas Shopping Complex in Bwacha.
He also said that five Bonanza Machines were stolen at Tedcas shopping complex and later abandoned at a nearby Stadium.
Mr Hamoonga said Police immediately instituted intelligence led investigations and apprehended two suspects.
He said the two suspects admitted having committed the offences and later led the Police to eight other suspects making the total number of suspects to be ten.
And after further interviews, the ten suspects admitted having committed a number of crimes in the past two years including the two murder cases and a number of aggravated robberies, burglary and theft.
Mr Hamoonga said some items have since been identified after a display that was held at Kabwe Central Police Station while others are yet to.
“We are appealing to residents of Kabwe who may have had their premises broken into to come forward and help in identifying the recovered items. The suspects are detained in police custody and will appear in court soon,” he said.
The suspects have been identified as Maxwell Chimwasu 34, of unmarked, house number Mine Compound Kabwe, Teddy Kafula 21, of Nakoli Compound Kabwe, A Male Juvenile aged 17 of Nakoli Compound Kabwe, another Male Juvenile aged 17 of Nakoli Compound Kabwe, lnnocent Mabeza 32, of Kawama Compound Kabwe.
Others are Crispin Mwango 37, of Lilanda Compound Lusaka, Kegan Mwape 22, of Chinanimani Kabwe, Timothy Cheelo 21, of Overspill Kabwe, Asan Sampa 22, of Mukobeko area Kabwe and Leonard Lungu 20 of Nakoli kabwe.
